Most people have a defining moment in their career—a moment in which suddenly the purpose of what we do comes sharply into focus. For me, that happened when I delivered my first death claim to a woman who had just lost her daughter, and had become the sole caregiver to her disabled son. It put a face to the process of selling life insurance. It made me see exactly how important this industry is.

I got into the life insurance business in the early 1990's and have spent most of that time in the field, working directly with clients. My career in the industry began as a financial planner. At the time, I was looking for something that allowed me to both support and spend time with my family, while also making a difference in people's lives—and becoming a financial advisor was a perfect fit.

I began managing assets with Prudential, and worked specifically with small business owners. After 12 years of advising clients, I became an agency manager with a staff of 20 agents. Eventually, I went on from there to manage and build out an entire region for Phoenix Life. Through my development in the field, managing agencies, and growing regional business, I've managed to walk in just about everyone's shoes along the way.

The next defining moment in my career was when I joined North American and became a part of something truly unique in our industry. I don't believe anyone else offers what we have with our Partner Program. No one else challenges the status quo the way we do.
