So, how did a nice tax attorney from Vermont become the Northeast Sales Vice President for North American Company, located in Boston, Massachusetts? After earning my Batchelor of Arts from the University of Vermont and my Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School, I began my professional career as an attorney, litigating tax cases. I realized, however, that something was missing: positive relationships, making a difference in people's lives, and having fun throughout the process. I transitioned into the life insurance industry not only because of the benefit it brings to individuals and businesses, but because of the opportunity it brings to do more than help clients with their immediate tax needs. I found something more meaningful in the life insurance industry—the relationships it cultivates, and the long-lasting impact it has on the lives of clients.
Twenty plus years later, I have earned my FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses and I am licensed for life and variable sales in Massachusetts. After gaining extensive experience in the Managing General Agency (MGA) channel and holding management positions at AXA, MassMutual, Sun Life Financial, and National Life Group—the relationships formed and the pride I take in our industry is still the most profound part of my career. This is what drives me every day.
I am so passionate about our industry that I have been very active in several key industry organizations that help shape it and keep it relevant and vibrant as it evolves over time. I have held leadership positions with both the Life Insurance Marketing Association (LIMRA) and the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU). I have spoken at their meetings and events, and published articles in National Underwriter, Broker World, AALU Quarterly and numerous other publications. Like the meaningful relationships I have developed with colleagues and clients, my relationship with this industry as a whole is important to me. I am happy to give back to an industry that has given me and so many others so much.
